Memories of Dr King Jr

This time last year, we were scurrying around trying to pack and say goodbye to our friends in New York. We cant believe it has been almost a year since we left NYC. We miss it a lot...we actually miss the snow...it is warm here today..70 degrees in January! We miss our friends and our great church too! We miss the multicultural flavor and having to learn to get along with others that are very different.

But..the Lord has brought many new things here too! We are grateful for our new friends here and our new church. We have been stretched to trust the Lord more than ever and continue to do that every day. We have come to a place where history took place. Montgomery and Selma were pivotal cities in the civil rights movement!

We think of Dr Martin Luther King Jr who had to face things that were hard. Our fmaily loves what he did for our nation and as a brother in the Lord. He was a great example of love, peace and acceptance....preaching that EVERY person is a creation of the Lord and the Lord doesn't make mistakes! It is interesting living where it all started...his calling.

Lisa met a man today who was here with Dr King when he began the movement. He is white. He is a pastor who was born and raised in Germany. He stood up for the famous Bus Boycott here in Montgomery. His home was bombed. He suffered for the truth. He is still here though...fighting for the Lord's justice still.
The Roses have been having to look around and see what we can do to continue to do to bring peace to this city that the Lord has sent us to("Jeremiah 29:7 says Pray for the city to which I have sent you...for when it prospers in peace, so will you"). We look for ways every day to teach our son to serve the Lord and follow the legacy of Dr King, but most of all, Jesus Christ..who is first and foremost in both the King family life and ours!

Blessings this day as you think about how you will be a vessel of peace..God's kind of peace.
