I love this time of year, always have, always will! It is time to shop for school supplies for Jason and Steven to go to 7th grade. I enjoy the smell of new pencils being sharpened and clean folders and new paper! They just bring back such fond memories of my school days....
I LOVED school growing up. I had excellent teachers all my life who made me look beyond what I THOUGHT I could do and think about the possibilities. I loved Mr. Cephas, my 7th grade science teacher, who used to tell us every morning..."it is time to put a new wrinkle(but being southern it was "wrankle")in your brain"
(see according to Mr. Cephas, every time you learn something new, you get a wrinkle, which I have found out that is absolutely true). He used to tell us he didn't want anybody in HIS class leaving 7th grade with a flat, smooth brain...that would have been pitiful!!
I loved my high school teachers like Mr. Moore, who got me interested in why people do what they do in Psych 101, Ms. Bailey who taught me to type on a REAL typewriter, Ms. Bowie, who taught me how to write, Ms. Hoehn who taught me how to have an intelligent argument through being on the Debate team, and so on and so on......
Teachers are so significant to us. They help shape everything we do in the future. Jason has had really good teachers since we have had him. They have believed in him and what he can become. They encouraged us to stay strong and keep teaching him.
Anyway, all this sentiment has been spurred by our meeting the new principal at the boys Jr. High School(who,by the way, is a GREAT guy) and getting their uniforms. We are getting school supplies this weekend since it is "tax free weekend" for clothing and school supplies. (-; It may be a more exciting weekend for me than the boys!
Anyway, they start the 11th(my birthday..woohoo)and we will be back in the swing of things once more. Here is a "bouquet of pencils" for you(taken from my favorite movie, You've Got Mail"). Buying school supplies also reminds me that Fall is just around the corner and that is my ALL TIME favorite time of year.
