Dear Friends,
We are in the beginning of
month 4 of Steven being in treatment. Though it is taking time, we see God
working in his heart and mind as he overcomes challenges not only of the abuse
and neglect that he endured as a child, but the brain injuries occurred during
utero and most likely from physical abuse as well. It has been determined that
a large portion of Steven’s issues are due to organic concerns with his brain.
That means that we are probably seeing the effects of the birthmother’s
drinking on his development now that he is older. He is doing very well in this
treatment program and they have hope that he will be able to get to a point of
functioning. He is halfway through the program and has done very well in school
there. His grades have come up significantly as well. The unfortunate part is
that he will live with this “brain injury” from birth for the rest of his life
and eventually will need support services. We are in a time of beginning to
plan for his future and what that holds. It is overwhelming at times and we
have gone through periods of grief as we have been on this journey and learn
more from their observations and care for our son.
We thank all of you for
continuing to pray. We also know that many of you have given sacrificially in
the beginning. We need your help in getting the word out to others who might be
able to help continue to scholarship this healing process. We are
still raising funds for Steven’s treatment as it is $200 a day after the first
2 months. Please keep us in mind as you think about helping others. Here is a
